The ENVIS Centre on Forestry was established by the
Mininstry of Environment and Forests (MOEF),Govt. of India during 1996-97
at the Forest Research Institute, Dehradun the oldest and the largest
Institute under Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education.The
Centre is located at the National Forest Libraray and Information Centre,
which is rich in document collection on Forestry and allied Science in
South and South-east Asia, having more than 1.66 lakhs books.Although the
greater parts of the books in the NFLIC are related to forestry, there is
a large collection of books and documents on chemistry, biological
sciences, agriculture and several other topics. There is an excellent
reference section stocked with encyclopedias, dictionaries, directories,
atlases, handbooks and rare books. NFLIC also maintains a grey literature
collection on forestry which comprises documents like theses and
dissertations, research reports, conference proceedings, etc.
